Hero Deities

Saint Vincent [Neutral Good]
One of the earliest hero deities, Saint Vincent was a titan-blooded human who wielded an enormous greatsword which was given to him by his titan mother. The sword was an object of legend, forged in the Hellmouth centuries ago by the titan smith Gallus who planned to use the sword to slay the gods and claim their powers. Gallus equivocally failed in his task, and the sword was lost to knowledge of the outside world, kept safe by his kinsmen, and over the years its power waned greatly. Vincent’s mother, knowing the facts surrounding his birth, sent him to the material plane, to live or die as fate would have it. Vincent was found and raised by a lonely old hermit, who took him as his own son. As chance would have it, three adventurers were passing by the old man’s hut just as a group of walking, undead skeletons attacked, and witnessed the great feats of strength Vincent performed in defeating them. There they joined together, and their travels would eventually lead them to becoming The Four Godsmen.

Upon learning of his adoptive father’s disappearance, he took his blade and left his companions to wander the land, where eventually he learned of Heracine’s Conspiracy, and he and his companions were among the few adventurers to fight against Heracine and her subjects, and were rewarded for their deeds in the Second Godswar with godhood. During the Second Godswar, Vincent fought a battle against Ivorett wherein he unsealed the full power of his weapon and used it to sunder the horn of the war god. Having bested Ivorett in single combat, it was then that he learned of the true nature of his human father’s disappearance: Ivorett was in fact his true father, who had visited his mother to bear a child, and when the Second Godswar began, the god returned to his home plane to organize the armies of the gods. His human “father” had learned of this himself long before Vincent reached maturity, and so left to ensure that he would find his rightful place as a true child of the gods. In this way, Vincent is a demigod as well as a hero deity, though his divine power was inert until unlocked by the gods. Vincent is a virtuous and protective deity, who favors honor and valor in battle, sometimes even above victory. He is a chief deity of fighters and warriors all over Templore.
