Half-Elves

Half-Elves

Incredibly rare, half-elves do exist but are seldom seen by most people. Because of the schism between human and elves, interbreeding between them is an extraordinary occurrence. Half-elves tend to be shunned in both elven and human lands; in elven settlements, they are typically given lesser duties and social statuses, and in human societies they are likely to be outcast altogether. However, because of their heritage, with some effort a half-elf can disguise himself to look either human or elven, and they often assume such a disguise to avoid the mistrust of the local populace. A typical half-elf will take to wandering the land as a drifter. Half-elves have no societies of their own, as they are too few in numbers and even after searching for a lifetime may be lucky to find another one or two of their kind.

Relations
Half-elves are too uncommon to have a united outlook on other races, though given their place in the world, they are not likely to look too kindly upon elves, and especially humans.

Adventurers
Most often, necessity is the driving force behind a half-elf adventurer’s motives. Ostracism from one’s family or homeland will see most half-elves becoming rogues or rangers, but they certainly have the potential to become anything they wish if they have the force of will to overcome the social stigmas of either parent race.
